So many
Nigerians and foreigners have fallen victim to this syndrome which is far more
contagious than Ebola Virus and more devastating than HIV AIDS. This is called
the “Gossip Syndrome”. The effect and impact of this syndrome leads to informal
talking or spreading of stories about other people’s private lives that may be
unkind or not true. The reason being that bad news sells. The Bible calls it
“back biting” (Romans 1:30) and back biters (people who bite or harm other from
the back/or with an anonymous identity) are cowards neither will they inherit
the kingdom of God.
As a lot of
people spend their quality time reading and commenting on stories and gossips
garnished with lies and fake photographs from notorious gossip and gist
websites and blogs this continues to raise a generation of people (most
especially young people) who cannot make quality contribution and impart in
other people’s lives neither can affect the nation for good rather a population
of gossipers devouring each other from the back thus creating more problems
which in turn dovetails into more violence.
Nigerians,
it is time to arise and say no to gossip. Shun gossiping. Instead of gossip
about one another (which has not alleviated our problems) let us love, pray and
speak well of one another putting our differences behind. We want a unified
nation and we cannot have it by cutting a pound of flesh from each other. I
challenge all majority and minority group in Nigeria this day as a servant of
The Most High God to see each other as brothers and as sisters. We all are part
of God’s family. Enough of gossiping, let us pursue and embrace love, sharing
and peaceful coexistence.
Long live the Federal
Republic of Nigeria!
Long live our Father Land!
Nigeria will be Great!
