Without Holiness!
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: Heb 12:14.”
Have you ever thought about the fact that no amount of good deeds you have done, that does not qualify you for Heaven? Have you come to terms with the fact that you good works and alms giving are all but filthy rags before the Lord? It is recorded in the scriptures (Isaiah 64:6) “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.”
I hear a lot of people argue and debate over the message of Holiness. They doubt the possibility. They say “it is not possible, only God is Holy; Man is so sinful that he cannot live a Holy life”. But here in the scriptures, God commands us to live peaceably with all men (even those that hate us to the bone!) and live holily and added the fact that it is only these sort of people will be privileged to see Him in Heaven. Yes “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” but to see God in that kingdom, one must be Holy. It is a must. “...without which no man shall see the Lord”
It is a very true that we cannot attain Holiness by our own efforts “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” But what we cannot attain, we can obtain through faith in the Lord Jesus who “....gave himself for it (The Church); That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” Eph 5:25. If we pray to God with a sincere heart, He will hear, purge and make us Holy just as He is.
Challenge: “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” 1Peter 1:15 & 16.
Prayer: Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
